Former Marina Bay City Project Reborn as Nesara Bay City Advances Landmark Convention Centre Plans

Lux Property Group has announced it is in the final stages of selecting a preferred construction partner for the landmark convention centre planned as part of the rapidly progressing Nesara Bay City development in Lombok.
The convention centre is expected to become a major catalyst for tourism, business events, conferences, exhibitions and international investment in the region, with permit submissions anticipated in the near future and construction expected to commence within the next 12 months, subject to approvals.
The project forms part of the broader transformation of the former Marina Bay City development, which was rebranded as Nesara Bay City following Lux Property Group’s assumption of management control and operational responsibility in late 2025.
Since taking over the project, Lux Property Group has worked closely with regional and national government stakeholders to address a range of legacy issues inherited from previous management. The company says significant progress has now been made, positioning the project to recommence construction activities in the near future.
“We have spent considerable time working alongside government authorities, consultants and industry stakeholders to resolve historical issues and establish a solid foundation for the future of the project,” said a spokesperson for Lux Property Group.
“With several important milestones now approaching, including anticipated rezoning outcomes across a number of estate precincts and the recommencement of construction works, we are pleased to be progressing towards the appointment of a construction partner for what will become one of Lombok’s most significant convention and events facilities.”
While Lux Property Group remains engaged with several highly qualified bidders, it is understood that an Indonesian construction company is currently emerging as the preferred tender candidate, reflecting the company’s commitment to supporting local industry participation and leveraging Indonesian expertise in delivering major infrastructure projects.
The proposed convention centre is expected to play a key role in attracting national and international events to Lombok, complementing the broader vision for Nesara Bay City as a world-class mixed-use destination incorporating residential, tourism, hospitality, commercial and lifestyle precincts.
The company expects to make a formal announcement regarding the successful tenderer following completion of final evaluations, commercial negotiations and internal approvals.
Further project updates are expected in the coming months as planning, permitting and development activities continue to advance.
