LUX Property Group Reports Major Progress on Lombok Tourism Rezoning and Stage 1 Approvals
Former Marina Bay City Development Moves Closer to Full Construction Resumption
LUX Property Group has announced a significant milestone for its flagship Lombok development, formerly known as Marina Bay City, after receiving an update from regional government authorities that the rezoning of much of the project’s land into a tourism zone is expected to receive final sign-off by Jakarta by early September 2026.
According to LUX Property Group, the anticipated rezoning approval will allow Stages 2 through 5 of the development to proceed under the company’s revised master-planned vision for the project.
Stage 1 of the development already benefits from tourism zoning status, having originally been acquired as tourism-zoned land. The company has spent the past several months working closely with government departments, consultants, planners, and engineers to prepare updated master plans and permit applications following LUX Property Group’s management takeover of the project in October 2025.
The revised plans have already been shared with relevant Lombok government departments and ministries and are expected to be formally submitted shortly.
Government officials have advised that the approval process is expected to take approximately 8 to 10 weeks. Importantly, LUX Property Group says it has already received permission to recommence civil works within Stage 1 while the permit process is finalized.
Once approvals are formally issued, the company expects construction activity to accelerate significantly across the project.
LUX Property Group Founder Jamie McIntyre said the progress reflects months of hard work and cooperation between the company and government authorities.
“This has been an outstanding team effort,” McIntyre said.
“When we assumed management control of the project last October, we inherited a development facing numerous legacy challenges. It has taken considerable time to restore relationships, address compliance matters, and ensure the project proceeds in accordance with government requirements.”

McIntyre said the company remains focused on building what it believes will become one of Lombok’s most significant integrated tourism and lifestyle developments.
“Much of the heavy lifting has now been completed. Relationships have been rebuilt, planning work has advanced substantially, and we are now seeing the benefits of that effort.”
LUX Property Group says the expected tourism rezoning approvals, combined with the Stage 1 permit process currently underway, will create a clear pathway for future development across the broader project.
The company expects further updates regarding permit approvals, construction commencement, and tourism zoning outcomes in the coming months.
The former Marina Bay City project continues to evolve under its new management structure and long-term vision, with a focus on tourism, hospitality, wellness, residential living, and sustainable development within Lombok’s growing tourism economy.
